DPR Sweeps National Championship

The DPR crew headed down to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands not on vacation, but as hired guns to crew a Honda race team and support the four factory backed Subaru's, an RSX, SRT-4, and a Mitsubishi Mirage that utilizes DPR products and cylinder heads. December 2nd through the 5th meant long hours and a fight for first. The first Stop was Salina's for a three hour endurance race. Kiki Diaz and Jeorge Nazario got onboard with DPR late in the season leading them to several first place wins and a possible shot at a third in the CCCPR Series National Championship. With one last long three hour race to go, the team flew the DPR boys in to push the odds in their favor. Young engineer and new DPR team member John Frank learned what it takes to support not one but four Subaru's, one Dodge, one Acura, one Honda, and a Mitsubishi. Busy doesnąt even come close, especially when the Mitsubishi, which was in second place, over heated and damaged its only engine in practice. While Paramore was attempting to save the Mitsubishiąs block and head, John was helping with the Honda team repairing the spoiler, shift linkage, and some electrical problems. The Subaru pits were suffering due to suspension regulations, and the SRT-4 needed a new turbo. It was a busy night before the next days race. There was not much time to enjoy the beautiful scenery which included ocean views, and many of the Puerto Rico beauties. The track resembled a little city with 53 foot trailers, music, helicopters, and rum served by the "Don Q" Girls. Race Strategy. In practice is was discovered that the Honda was the fastest. If they could eliminate the current point leader and past champion before the half way point of the race, they could move up a notch in points. The Honda team teased and pushed him. It worked and the other car lost an engine trying to keep up. Next they would have to beat the fellow DPR Mitsubishi Mirage. This is where the pit practice paid off. The Honda stayed on top, taking the win, and the Mitsubishi finished second. This locked the overall championship for Artemio Vargas's Mirage, and a very victorious second place for Kiki Diaz and Jeorge Nazario.
"It was a pleasure to be a part of all the teams efforts. The hearts, friendliness, love, and dedication over flowed. The Don Q was aslo great," said Paramore. After a day off, DPR was back to work with three days of seminars then off to the drag racers of the Virgin Islands for a five day seminar and lecture tour.
