Sept. 18, 2004. 250 fast and brutal desert racing miles agains finds the Lesher`s and DPR the fastest. Not simply in their class with a restricted 1.6 Honda, but against Porsche, V8 aluminum Northstars and unlimited class cars and teams. A faulty and leaking power sterring pump slowed the warn out Leshers down. Twice the driver changes and 16 extra pit stops made for an interesting race. We would get passed in the pits and work hard to re repass on the track, only to pit again ( every 10 miles or so. It gave new meaning to the turtle and the hair race. Well we lost first by 5 minutes over the 4 1/2 mile endurance event. A second place and a 3rd over all. Crangulations to the winners who did a better job, and congratulations to the worn out Leshers …Still the FASTEST in the desert with 1/3 the displacement 1/8 the crew.
